AHOY! Nautical Themed Cupcakes

I was asked by my friend Alistair to make cupcakes for his nautical themed 30th birthday party.  I was thrilled as I love cupcakes and all things nautical!  Just a simple vanilla sponge filled with strawberry jam, and topped with things like life rings, boats, lighthouses and anchors!

Tatty Devine Cupcakes

My bestest friend Stephanie turns 30 on Sunday 1st April and because of her passion for Tatty Devine jewellery I decided to recreate some key pieces on cupcakes!  She chose the flavour, parma violet icing and vanilla sponge.  She was thrilled with them!!

The dog is Mason, a birthday gift from Mark and Jason (get it??)

Iggle Piggle Cupcakes (and Luigi)

Got the call from my sister-in-law to make Iggle Piggle cupcakes for my nephew Ben's birthday.  Once I figured out who this was I decided the head was the easiest thing to make.  I decided to add in one special Luigi cupcake for Ben's brother Gary.  I prefer Luigi to Iggle Piggle.

Strawberry & Rose Cupcakes

These are delicious strawberry flavoured cupcakes and rose flavoured butter icing.  Don't they look pretty!  Just looks like the cake in my logo.  Think next time I'll use vanilla buttercream, the rose was a bit much with the strawberry.

Cupcake Stall

Got the fantastic opportunity to sell my wares at the Say No To Plastic vintage sale. Lovely Lisa from my work organised it and very kindly asked me if I would like a stall.
It was a great day and we sold out early! I had great helpers in the form of my mum and my bff Stephanie. They were brilliant!
Also a shout out to Mark for designing my new logo.
Cupcakes were:
Cocoa Chanel (choc)
Simply the Zest (lemon)
Mr Whippy (vanilla cones)
You Can't Catch Me (gingerbread)
Carat Gold (carrot cake)
Say Yes to Cupcakes (vanilla to go with the theme)

Sister's Birthday Cakes

Bit late posting this but it my big sis Lorna's birthday in May, the big 30.  Being a special birthday and a wonderful sister, she got 2 cakes!
For her birthday party I went for Rainbow Cupcakes and for the family get together a crowd pleasing Carrot Cake with lashing of cream cheese icing.
My mum provided a tasteful cake cutter which played the happy birthday theme. Classy!

Wedding Cupcakes (Star Wars Theme)

Here are the pics of the cakes for my sister's wedding.  It was a joint family effort from my mum, my boyfriend and me!  My sister and her now wife Claire asked to make 100 cupcakes plus 2 Star Wars themed cupcakes for the both of them.  My mum made the large wedding cake, giving them something to cut for the photos.  My mum and I made the cupcakes and my boyfriend Lee made these amazing R2D2 and Boba Fett toppers.  As a Star Wars fan he knew all the details had to be perfect! (I made the lightsabres!!)

They were both thrilled with the results and it was a fantastic day all round.  Congratulations to the both of them!

Two Tone Cupcakes

My sister has asked me to make cupcakes for her wedding in April!!  Very excited about it, 100 cupcakes to make.

I've started experimenting for the big day first up.... two tone icing.  The blue and green was suppose to be peacock type colours, but they are a little garish.

Giant Christmas Cupcake

Another Giant Cupcake, just plain old vanilla this time.  Made this for a workmate for his Secret Santa.  He's got a sweet tooth and always enjoys my baked goods when I bring them to work.  Hope he likes it!
The ingenious box was made by Lee, my boyfriend.  I needed something to transport it in, so he made this box with sides that open.  Very impressed!!

Giant Chocolate Cupcake

Bought a new Giant Cupcake mould and this was the trial run.

Took about 1 hour to bake in the oven so the cake turned out a bit dry, but with plenty of chocolate butter icing I hardly noticed!!

Struggled to pipe the icing on neatly, it's a bit rough looking.  A few more practices are in order me thinks.

Lee's Birthday Cakes

My fiance Lee had his birthday in October and while he was away enjoying himself in Munich at Oktoberfest, I stayed at home slaving over a hot oven making him these cupcakes awaiting his return.
They are Ginger Cupcakes topped with Ginger Fudge Buttercream and crystallised ginger.  Recipe from Primrose Bakery Book, they've got a lovely spiced autumnal flavour.

Cake Day!

We had a Cake Day at work, so it was the ideal opportunity to bake some cupcakes.
First batch was Rose flavoured cupcakes, this recipe is from the Primrose Bakery book.  It's one of my favourites, made them quite a few times now.  I just need to perfect my 'rose' piping technique!
Secondly, I made my firm favourites.....  Carrot Cupcakes.  Recipe is from Rachel Allen, Bake!  The recipe is to make a large carrot cake but works just as good as cupcakes.
Look forward to the next Cake Day!!
